never in track-and-field-crazy-cedar have we ever been asked to complete this kind of distance.
the distance may be a mere 10km to some of you out there (including my Pillow! =P ).. but for someone who's not been a regular runner/ jogger, this distance took me a month to train up for -- 2 / 3 jogs per week for the last 3 weeks or so.
i've learnt to focus my thoughts on being more determined during today's run... got myself in a serious mood and maintained the (abeit slow) pace up til the 6 km mark, until the drink station forced me to slow down and develop side stitches. then i slacked and walked for almost 1 km, until i found the strength to run the remaining 3 km to the finish line. after the mid-point, when i started seeing more ppl walking and getting breathless, the temptation to stop was soooo great.
i'm surprised my mental strength held through for me to complete the run today. i could have eliminated the walking if my stitches didn't appear, but it's alright, i've finally crossed my previous mark of running for only 40min at a shot. =)
thanks to liying and my bf for keeping me company today too!
