just like to share this from a book i read recently..
how do you ever make a quick & accurate decision about whether or not to invest more time, effort, and energy to know another person better (presumbly as a potential partner):
1) know yourself extremely well! .. so that you know what kind of person matches you.
2) create your 'must-have' & 'can't-stand' lists of qualities you want/do not want in your partner.
..... my own 'must-have' list: 1) loyal (can count on to be always around me) 2) unassuming (able to accept criticism & even admit to being wrong sometimes) 3) conflict resolver (will work to resolve rather than win arguements) 4) emotionally generous (enjoys ppl and is generous in his compassion, attention, sympathies and love) 5) good personal habits (maintains high standards of hygiene/orderliness) 6) financially responsible 7) autonomy (give me space to be my own person) 8) shared interests 9) family life (committed to marriage, home, family) 10) passionate
