Reignite your passion

Read this article written by christian chua in the straits times recruit section today, and thought it was insightful. here's an excerpt:

When we sign a contract and agree to work for an organisation, we agree to sell a period of our time to provide a service for a price (wages). in truth, we have sold part of our life to the organisation.

once you get into a career you love, you'll feel that you are living each day the way you have always wanted to - and are getting paid for it anyway. when you are in a job that enables you to play your strengths, you are likely to shine in that position. the right job matters.

but what if you are already in a certain career and circumstances do not enable you to switch careers? you simply need to reengineer your attitude (to not feel as if you are selling your life away):

1) be motivated - finding a reason such as financial remuneration, having the ability to help someone, or a sense of achievement.

2) build great relationships - do not be too task-orientated & end up hurting others trying to achieve their goals.

3) seek new challenges - try out new tasks to make your job seem new again.
